From Silicon Valley to New York City, angel investors are banding together and filling the gaps left by the venture capital industry shakeout. These ‘super angels’ (or micro-seed funds) eschew the traditional venture model and appear to be generating enviable returns in the process. But is this trend sustainable or are we headed for a super-sized seed crash? And what does this growing phenomenon mean for the entrepreneur?

Paul Kedrosky, investor, entrepreneur, writer and analyst for CNBC television, will lead the discussion with a panel of experienced angels including local investors Irfhan Rajani, Boris Wertz and Basil Peters, and Seattle based Geoff Entress.

A Celebration Of Entrepreneurship

Join the VEF & VEFM for an evening dedicated to celebrating the unique traits of entrepreneurs.  What motivates them to persevere when times get tough and others challenge their vision?  Hear first hand how creativity, perseverance, confidence, and perhaps a bit of “luck” has led these entrepreneurs to their “over night success”.
Absolute Software and PNI Digital Media are both winners of Deloitte Fast 50 in 2009.  But success hasn’t come easily.  John Livingston, CEO of Absolute Software and Aaron Rallo, President of PNI Digital Media will share tales of how they survived the lows and managed the highs.    This evening promises to be an inspiration to all entrepreneurs.

Digital Media Investment Trends:
New Media is a fast growing sector in our local economy. The combined wireless and mobile, video gaming, animation and VFX, web 2.0 and social media, interactive marketing and e-learning sectors includes more than 1,300 companies, it employs 22,000 people, and generates revenues of approximately$3B a year in BC.
VEF is hosting an evening with a panel of Canadian and US VCs who invest in the digital media space.  They will discuss what they look for when evaluating investment opportunities and give the audience their perspectives and outlook on trends for the sector.
