A Celebration Of Entrepreneurship

Join the VEF & VEFM for an evening dedicated to celebrating the unique traits of entrepreneurs.  What motivates them to persevere when times get tough and others challenge their vision?  Hear first hand how creativity, perseverance, confidence, and perhaps a bit of “luck” has led these entrepreneurs to their “over night success”.
Absolute Software and PNI Digital Media are both winners of Deloitte Fast 50 in 2009.  But success hasn’t come easily.  John Livingston, CEO of Absolute Software and Aaron Rallo, President of PNI Digital Media will share tales of how they survived the lows and managed the highs.    This evening promises to be an inspiration to all entrepreneurs.

This VEF summer BBQ is hosted at Law Courts Inn (4th Floor – 800 Smithe Street) and includes a delicious barbecue dinner.

John Livingston has served as Absolute’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer since 1995, growing the company from its infancy to a global organization. Absolute invented the computer theft recovery, tracking and loss control product category with the introduction of “Computrace” in 1994. Absolute now has head offices in Vancouver, Canada and Austin, Texas and employees over 350 people. Absolute has evolved to offer a full range of business solutions encompassing physical, data and network security as well as IT asset management.  Prior to taking the helm of Absolute, John was a faculty member of the School of Business at the British Columbia Institute of Technology. He also founded and managed a computerized reservation service and a record production company. John holds a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Calgary.

Aaron Rallo is President and Chief Operating Officer for PNI Digital Media.  Mr. Aaron Rallo joined PhotoChannel in November 2004 as Chief Technology Officer and Vice President of Product Development. Effective October 1, 2008, Mr. Rallo became President of the Company. With his proven technical record and in-depth experience in the imaging market, Mr. Rallo leads the PNI development team as the Company fulfills its strategy of deploying solutions for retailers and wireless carriers with the most robust and feature rich digital content delivery solution in the market. Most recently Mr. Rallo worked at Microsoft Corporation (MSFT) within the Windows Printing and Imaging team. Prior to Microsoft, he spent eight years at Fujifilm eSystems (formerly AGT) as Vice President of Web Development and Network Operations. Mr. Rallo received his BS, Computer Science from the Rochester Institute of Technology.
