Your Drone Questions Answered By Transport Canada

We had many many questions at our May 'Drone Technology', event but sadly not enough time to get them all answered.  Transport Canada have now provided us with answers to some of those questions:

Q. What drones can and cannot do for film, TV and media?

In Canada, Unmanned Air Vehicles (UAV) are regulated through the Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs). Section 602.41 of the CARs requires a UAV operator to hold a Special Flight Operations Certificate (SFOC) prior to conducting UAV operations.  The SFOC process allows for a case-by-case review of the proposed operations so as to identify the associated risks and ensure appropriate mitigation measures are in place.
